Hoover Funeral Homes provides a wide and varied selection of funeral merchandise to meet the needs of all families we serve. We display exclusively Batesville caskets which are the finest quality caskets made. We feel our families deserve nothing but the best. We can, however, acquire any time or make of casket available in the nation. |
Caskets
Caskets are made of basically two materials. They are either metal or wood. The finest metals are made of bronze. Following bronze in quaility is copper followed by stainless steel. Then you have the basic steels of 16 gauge, 18 gauge, and 20 gauge. 16 gauge is the heaviest regular steel and 20 gauge is the lightest metal caskets are made from. Bronze and Copper caskets will not deteriorate. Copper roofing material and Bronze statues have been exposed to the elements for years and have never been affected. Certain types of stainless steel also will not deteriorate. If you select a premium grade of stainless steel it will resist corrosion. However there is a less expenisve grade of stainless steel that is not impervious to corrosion.
There are also caskets made of Mahogany, Walnut, Oak, Cherry, Poplar and other types of woods. All of the metal caskets we display are protective caskets (they will seal), while the hardwood caskets are non-protective. Most families chose to place the casket in a sealed burial vault, however this is not required by law. It is strictly a family's preference.

Vaults
We also offer a wide variety of outer burial containers. Some people refer to them as vaults, however, a vault is a sealed container that is water tight and air tight. This is not required by law, although most cemeteries have a requirement of at least a concrete box or grave liner which is not air or water tight. We can acquire any brand or type of burial vault manufactured in the United States. However, we normally show Con-O-Lite Vaults of Schaefferstown, PA and Wilbert Burial Vaults, which are both the finest in quality available.

We can assist with floral arrangements if you wish. To view and select your arrangement please visit our Flower shop.
*Flowers must be ordered at least 24 hours prior to service in order to guarantee delivery.
